Outdoor Activity For Toddlers | Arizona Photographer
Winter is thawing out and Summer isn’t here yet, that means we’re in that sweet spot called Spring! Not too hot, not too cold and perfect to spend long hours playing outdoors. With me working eight hours behind a desk and Emi being Emi we’re both itching to get outside and enjoy the fresh air by the end of the day. But we’ve already spent hours swinging, we’ve been to the park and gone down the the slides… so what now? Well my new favorite outdoor activity for toddlers is making nature collections.
Emi is just barely getting to that toddler stage and she has been fascinated by the rocks that line the trail when we go on our evening walks. So yesterday, after some more swinging, I challenged her to make a rock collection. She got SO excited! We walked around the yard, dug in the dirt, and found lots of interesting rocks. Pretty soon she was adding seed pods left over from Fall and the first of the Spring flowers. She was so proud of her little collection and was even more excited to show it to Great-Grandma when she joined us.
I’m a firm believer that kids should be allowed to make a mess, play in the dirt, and encouraged to use their imaginations. Creating nature collections is a great outdoor activity for toddlers that hits all three.
